THE PATRON SAINT CELEBRATIONS -These are popular folk parties, festivals of the village; it's very important to recover the identity of the village. And it's necessary to encourage the participation of the people in all the activities.

The fist event of the year is the fiesta of St. Peter, Patron of Esporles, on the 29 of June. There are some events that are always included because of the tradition. An example would be the competition of decorating the different streets by their neighbours and see who does the best. Every day before the celebrations starts, there are fireworks. A very traditional celebration is a supper that takes place in the middle of the street by the local population.

For St. Peter, they do it and for the festivities of the "Our Lady of August" patron of the church, built by locals and the nuns of the Charity of Saint "Vicent de Paül". In 1973 after many years without these traditional festivities a group of young people cleaned the land of an old factory to organise the festivities where they are still held today.

The last Sunday of August is the festivity of the small chapel on the mountain and many people walk up to it, after the folk dancing they have "paella" and competitions, etc.

As well as the typical festivities there are also other social events of fun and religion etc these all together form the traditional festivities of our island. We have to emphasize the "Matins"(midnight Christmas mass which includes "El cant the la Sibil.la" and "EL Sermó de la Calenda"), the blessing of animals to celebrate St. Anthony in January and the Carnival Parade in Febuary, the Easter Procession and the Corpus Cristi, and the blessing of sweets for St.Blas.
