Towns of Mallorca - Town markets and fiestas
Central - Alaro

Alaró spreads out around the square of the Town Hall, where a market is held every Friday afternoon; there is also a covered market, which opens its doors daily.

The patron saint of Alaró is Sant Roc, whose festivities take place on the 16th of August every year. Other patron saints are Sant Antoni and Sant Sebastiŕ. Other fiestas take place to commemorate Sant Pere (specially in the area of Los d'Amunts) and Sant Antoni (with bonfires and the blessing of animals), not forgetting Christmas and Easter. Particularly interesting are the processions on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and the get-together at 8 am on Easter Sunday, where everyone partakes of dishes of local cuisine typical for that time of year. It is traditional to walk to the castle twice a year in order to celebrate a mass in honour of Our Lady del Refugi, one on the Sunday after Easter, the other one in September.
